As Christian women, we are called to be good stewards of our time. But in today’s fast-paced world, it can be very challenging to find the time to focus on our faith and prioritise our relationship with God.
If you’re in that space, I totally understand, and I’m here to help.
Today I’d like to explore 10 easy ways to be good stewards of time, so we can strengthen our faith and live a more purposeful life.
Why Is Time Management Important for Christian Women?
As Christians, we believe that our time on earth is a gift from God. It is our responsibility to use this time wisely and for His glory.
Time management is crucial for us as believers because it allows us to draw closer to God and fulfill our purpose in life.
Prioritise Time for God:
The most important aspect of time management for Christian women is prioritising time for God. This means setting aside time each day to pray, read the Bible, and reflect on our faith.
It can be easy to get caught up in our daily tasks and neglect our spiritual well-being. I’ve definitely been guilty of that.
By intentionally setting aside time for God, we can strengthen our relationship with Him and grow in our faith.
Create a Schedule:
Creating a schedule can help us manage our time more effectively.
By setting aside specific times for work, household tasks, and personal activities, we can ensure that we are using our time wisely and not wasting it on unimportant tasks.
It can also help us make time for God by scheduling in daily devotional time or attending church services.
Set Goals:
Setting goals can give us a sense of purpose and direction in our lives. As Christian women, our ultimate goal should be to live a life that is pleasing to God.
But we can also set smaller, more specific goals to help us grow in our faith and serve others. By setting goals, we can be better stewards of our time and make sure we are working towards what truly matters.
Learn to Say No:
As Christian women, we often feel the need to say yes to every request that comes our way. But this can lead to exhaustion and burnout.
Learning to say no to things that do not align with our priorities and values can help us manage our time more effectively and avoid spreading ourselves too thin.
Delegate Tasks:
We don’t have to do everything ourselves. As Christian women, we can delegate tasks to others and ask for help when needed.
This can free up our time to focus on more important things, such as our relationship with God and the church community.
Limit Distractions:
In today’s digital age, it can be easy to get distracted by social media, emails, and other notifications. To be good stewards of our time, we must limit these distractions and focus on the tasks at hand.
This may mean turning off our phones or setting specific times to check emails and social media.
Practice Time Management Techniques:
There are many time management techniques that can help us use our time more effectively.
Some popular techniques include the Pomodoro method, where you work in 25-minute intervals with short breaks in between, and the Eisenhower Matrix, which helps prioritise tasks based on urgency and importance.
Find a technique that works for you and include it in your daily routine.
Be Organised:
Being organised can save us time and reduce stress. By keeping our spaces tidy and having a system in place for important documents and tasks, we can avoid wasting time searching for things and focus on more important tasks.
Take Breaks:
It may seem counterintuitive, but taking breaks can actually help us manage our time more effectively.
When you give yourself short breaks throughout the day, you’re able to recharge and come back to tasks with renewed focus and energy.
Reflect and Reevaluate:
As Christian women, it is important to regularly reflect on how we are using our time and if we really are being good stewards of it.
Are we spending enough time with God?
Are we using our time to serve others and fulfill our purpose?
We can make sure we are being good stewards of our time and living a life that is pleasing to God through regular reflection and reevaluation.
Real-Life Examples of Good Stewardship of Time
Here are two wonderful women who can show us how to be good stewards of our time.
Mother Teresa:
Mother Teresa is a prime example of someone who was a good steward of her time. Despite her busy schedule as a nun and missionary, she always made time for prayer and reflection.
She also prioritised serving others, dedicating her life to helping the poor and sick. Her selfless use of time is an inspiration to us all.
Corrie ten Boom:
Corrie ten Boom was a Christian author and Holocaust survivor who used her time to spread the message of God’s love and forgiveness. Despite facing unimaginable hardships, she remained faithful and dedicated her life to serving others.
Her story reminds us that even in the most difficult of circumstances, we can use our time to glorify God.
How Can We Be Good Stewards of Time Everyday?
I’ve talked a lot about time management and being good stewards of our time in general. But how can we be better stewards of our time on a daily basis?
Here are a few ways to do just that!
Start and End Your Day with God:
Make it a habit to start and end your day with God. This can be through prayer, reading the Bible, or simply reflecting on your faith.
When God is the first and final person you prioritise, it really sets the tone for the rest of your day.
Keep a Prayer Journal:
Keeping a prayer journal can help you stay organised and focused during your daily prayer time. It can also serve as a record of your spiritual journey and help you see how God has been working in your life.
Use a Planner:
Using a daily planner can help you stay organised and on top of your tasks and commitments. Make sure to schedule in time for God and prioritise your spiritual well-being.
Find an Accountability Partner:
Having an accountability partner that you talk to daily can help you stay on track with your goals and priorities. This can be a friend, family member, or anyone you are comfortable confiding in.
A mentor who shares your faith and values can help you be a good steward of your time and growth in your spiritual journey.
Take a Daily Sabbath:
As Christians, we are called to take time to rest. This means setting aside some time each day to rest, reflect, and spend time with God.
By taking a Sabbath day, we can recharge and refocus for the week ahead. When we’re rested and recharged we are better able to be good stewards of our time in the week to come!
Final Thoughts
I can’t say this enough, but as women of God , we are called to be good stewards of our time.
When we desire to be good stewards of the time Christ has given us, it doesn’t have to be a difficult process. If we are intentional and purposeful on a day to day basis then we can learn better time management skills that will allow us to be better believers.
Let’s strive to be good stewards of our time and live a life that is pleasing to God.
Happy reflecting!
